Write-Up by shlepcar

In 1977, when I was seven-years-old, these things happened:
- I went to my first Minnesota Twins game
- I rode with my old man Earley in an old station wagon to California and went to Disneyland.
- Star Wars came out
- I got hit by a car while riding my bike…it was my fault

In 1987, when I was 17-years-old:
- The Twins won the World Series
- I met Robert Smith of the Cure
- Patrick Swayze conquered the pop charts with “She’s Like the Wind” from Dirty Dancing
- I knocked down my parents mailbox with my car…twice

In 1997, when I was 27-years-old:
- I got to visit Paris for the second time
- I got married
- Princess Di died in Paris
- I (and my now ex) got hit by a car crossing the street…

Now it’s 2007, and holy crap, I’m 37-years-old. And if my reflection on thirty years has taught me anything, it’s that this year I’m likely to get hit by a car (or a bus…or maybe just a mailbox).

That’s why I’m starting off the second version of the Song of the Day with a “Positive Jam.”

(If it is destiny that I get hit by a car, I hope that it’s by a car I saw a few months ago in Berkeley: I saw this guy in a top hat and tuxedo, with a gowned lady by his side, driving a sofa.
Yeah. It looked kind of like this)

I hope 2007 is your best year yet.

-Christopher Earley
